Brooklyn trio School Of Seven Bells have signed to Full Time Hobby for the UK and are playing their debut UK shows in London this week (details below).

To add further excitement, School of Seven Bells is giving away a free download off forthcoming album Alpinisms (out on Full Time Hobby 17th November).

School Of Seven Bells is the collective work of Benjamin Curtis, ex-guitarist from the Secret Machines and identical twin sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza, previously of ambient post-rockers On! Air! Library! and occasional collaborators with Prefuse 73.

With influences spread as far and wide as My Bloody Valentine, 80’s electro-pop one hit wonder Debbie Deb to obscure prog rockers Gentle Giant and Colombia’s number one diva Toto La Momposina, the School Of Seven Bells’ sound is as schizophrenic as it is blissful. While the three band members remain abstract and experimental in their approach to writing, the result is always glorious ethereal pop music of epic proportions.

Moshi Moshi Release First Ever Norwegian Language Single in UK

high, winsome vocals, rubbery 8-bit melodies, dancey backing tracks, slashy post-punk guitars, a multi-media stage show with various kinds of puppets and video projections, and just generally a sweet and crazy party vibe Pitchfork

27th October sees the historic release of the first ever Norwegian language pop single in the UK courtesy of Moshi Moshi Records. Refusing to accept the notion of b-sides, Casiokids will release the Double A sided single Grønt lys I alle ledd/Togens hule. The band now becomes the latest in a select band of artists to have released through Moshi’s Singles Club including names such as Late of the Pier, Lykke Li, Florence and The Machine and Kate Nash.

Old analogue and trashy keyboards, pop melodies and a digital & shadow puppet theatre make up the Norwegian electro-troupe that is Casiokids. The band sprung out of an idea of making electronic music more visual, but has developed further into being a collective of theatre blended with pop melodies often sung in their native language and influenced by afro-beat, techno and out-and-out pop. The music draws similarities and takes inspiration from Paul Simon's "Graceland", Ivor Cutler, King Tubby, Bob Hund, Cornelius and Fela Kuti. Download Full PR Download Casiokids artwork

Tristan Wraight and Erin Fein's boy-girl vocals sit atop a Spector-sized wall of sound on On April 2..., while the breezy, organ-led Cherry Tulips wouldn't have been out of place on the last Rilo Kiley album UNCUT

Meet Headlights, a US female-fronted five piece who make Yo La Tengo-esque indie pop with echoes of My Bloody Valentine and Phil Spector. Ahead of the UK release of the Remixes on 8th December, Headlights are over in Europe on tour from Champaign, Illinois, and are also giving away the supremely ghostly remix of Cherry Tulips.

Moshi Moshi & The Wave Pictures Release Low Carbon 'Pigeon EP' out now

Moshi Moshi has undertaken the recording of a low carbon release for the current EP from The Wave Pictures. Entitled Pigeons EP, this release is available for digital download only from October 13th.

As is typical of their prolific output, The Wave Pictures recorded not one but four songs during their stint at The Premises. The Pigeons EP includes live favourite Long Island, plus brand new songs One Line At A Time; Don't Say I Haven't Tried and Davids Evening On Wheels. Vocalist Dave Tattersall played the piano on these versions with Charles and Rebecca from Slow Club taking on guitar duties and backing vocals respectively.

Recording took place on August 28th in a solar powered studio at The Premises in London. The band walked to the studio - as did the engineer - and following the recording the studio uploaded the tracks to the server of their digital distributor, for release through iTunes and other digital download stores.

Kevin Barnes, from Athens Georgia’s technicolour indie pop band of Montreal, has unveiled details of the ‘Skeletal Lamping’ Collection, comprising of several innovative new album formats. In keeping with the notion of fluid identity explored in ‘Skeletal Lamping’, of Montreal’s latest and greatest musical odyssey will be available to buy in UK stores from 3rd November as a Chinese lantern, badges, wall decorations, bespoke tote bags or t-shirts combined with a download of the album, as well as in more traditional formats such as vinyl and cd.

XX Teens: debut album Welcome To Goon Island, 28th July

Welcome To Goon Island, the debut album from XX Teens, will be released through Mute on 28th July 2008.

The 11-track album will be preceded by a single, Only You, on 14th July.

XX Teens have recently completed a run of dates, both supporting The Long Blondes and their own headline gigs, culminating in a show at London’s ICA and two performances at Glastonbury Festival. Gigs on the horizon include a headline set at Kill Em All @ Fabric on the 18th July and performances at Reading/Leeds Festival and Bestival later on in the year.

Somewhat of a metaphor for Britain, Welcome To Goon Island is born from the great British Art School tradition, the core of the band having met at art college in Southend; vivid, interesting, expansive and far-reaching, an aesthetic that seeps into everything they do from their other-worldly videos via intriguing photos to extra curricular activities such as training dogs to dance. Yet such apparent frippery shouldn’t disguise their uncanny ability to pen rather fine songs, as Welcome To Goon Island attests.

With Welcome To Goon Island, XX Teens look set to bring a bit of depth & technicolour joy into the sometime hegemonic drabness of the current musical landscape.

The album was produced by with Ross Orton (Fat Truckers, MIA, Bromheads Jacket, Kid Acne) in Sheffield at the end of 2007. A joyous and innovative record which rumbles, rolls & swings coming to an end with the swirling psychedelia of Sun Comes Up and a moving eulogy from Brian Haw.
